Peer Support Services/Recovery Support Specialists (RSS):

SAMHC utilizes Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) services to compliment other crisis services offered at SAMHC. Peer support services are provided by individuals who have either themselves, or have family members, that have received care through the behavioral health system. The primary focus for RSSs is to help individuals in crisis reach their recovery goals. The personal experience that RSSs have had uniquely prepares them to assist, support, and inspire others who are currently in crisis.

The staff employed as RSSs by SAMHC are either already certified by the Recovery Support Specialist Institute, or equivalent, will become certified within 6 months of employment, and meet A.A.C. R9-20 qualifications for a behavioral health professional, behavioral health technician, or behavioral health paraprofessional.
