Facilitation of Involuntary Hospitalization

SAMHC is the Pima County screening agency for Applications for Involuntary Evaluations, also referred to as pre-petitions. The prepetition process may be initiated by any responsible individual. SAMHC staff involved in the prepetition process provide services including:
• Assisting the prepetition applicant to complete required documentation, when necessary;
• Interviewing the applicant and the individual about whom the allegations have been made (when possible);
• Staffing this information with the SAMHC Medical Director or designee;
• Coordinating with Pima County Attorney's Office as indicated; and
• Testifying in Court-Ordered Treatment determination hearings when requested to do so by Pima County Attorney's Office.
