Facilitation of Emergency Involuntary Hospitalization

When an individual demonstrates imminent Danger to Self (DTS) or Danger to Others (DTO), SAMHC clinical staff may initiate or facilitate the Application for Emergency Admission for Evaluation, also referred to as an emergency petition. SAMHC clinical staff provide assessments and discusses voluntary inpatient admission. If the person accepts offers of clinical services, SAMHC clinical staff facilitate arrangements, including transportation, for the person to receive care. When SAMHC clinical staff have initiated the Application for Emergency Admission for Evaluation and an involuntary evaluation is deemed necessary, SAMHC clinical staff coordinate with Law Enforcement and hospital personnel to coordinate processes including transportation and emergency hospital evaluation.
